Australian swimmer Shayna Jack will today meet with ASADA officials in Brisbane as she faces a lengthy suspension from the sport over a positive drug test.
The 20-year-old was sent home from a training camp in Japan ahead of the FINA World Swimming Titles in South Korea after testing positive to the muscle growth stimulant Ligandrol. Jack maintains her innocence and insists she has no idea how the stimulant got into her system. She faces a four-year ban from the sport unless she can prove to officials that food or supplements she took were contaminated. Today’s meeting with ASADA officials will not determine any penalty, instead she will find out more details of the test results. A tribunal hearing will be held in coming weeks with Jack looking at her swimming career being brought to an end. Jack will also front the media on Saturday for the first time, where she is expected to accuse Swimming Australia of forcing her to keep the positive test result quiet.
