The Gold Coast has topped the list of the Queensland regions most affected by severe weather during autumn.
According to NRMA Insurance, autumn was the third-worst season for weather-related home damage ever, only behind the 2019-20 Black Summer bushfires and the summer of 2018-19. There were more than 25,000 claims for weather damage across Queensland, NSW, Western Australia, South Australia and the ACT during autumn. Treasurer Cameron Dick has unveiled a record $9.6 billion to build new hospitals across the state and expand existing ones that will see an extra 2,200 beds. At least 608 of those will be on the Gold Coast. The budget has earmarked $1.3 billion for the new Coomera Hospital which will have 404 beds.
